Two workers at Speedway Ford were sore but otherwise fine after an automotive mishap Thursday morning.

“They were just working on the car and it was in neutral and running,” said James Hammock, the parts and service manager at Speedway.

The gearshift was somehow pushed into drive while the doors were open and the two workers, Matt Daniels and Matt McDaniels, were between them.

“It lunged forward,” Hammock said.

The two men were pinned against a nearby rack. 911 was called at 8:30 a.m. and the two men were taken to Spalding Regional Medical Center at 8:45 a.m.

“Right after we called in, they were here,” he said. “It took them less than five minutes to get here.”

The men were taken out on backboards, to avoid aggravating any potential spinal injuries.

While Hammock was speaking with a Griffin Daily News reporter, he received a phone call from one of the men’s wives updating him on the situation.

“They’re doing fine, they’re just sore,” he said.

That's amazing that Spaldings' ems got to the scene so fast. Heck they are usually just doing transports out of the hospital, because thats how they make their money and placing the the counties emergency calls on the low priority, because they are not getting the revenue. This is a fact. Research yourself and you will see. It's the hospital administration. You will find that Spalding Hospital ems has some of the worst response times in the state of GA.
