The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will be resurfacing Taylor Street at night for the next couple of months.

Kimberly Larson, the district communications officer for GDOT District 3, said work on the project started earlier this week.

The street will be resurfaced from Spalding Drive to Green Valley Road, a total length of 4.12 miles.

“That’s the entire length of the project,” she said.

The project will cost $1,283,058 and will be paid for with federal stimulus money. It is being done at the request of Spalding County.

Larson did not know a specific completion date.

“It should be a couple of months for them to get done,” she said.

The work is being done only at night due to traffic volume on the street.

When asked about specific times, Larson said until Saturday, the work will be done from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.

She asked drivers in the area to slow down near work sites and be careful around the workers.

Hill Construction Co. will serve as the contractor.
