The Spalding Regional Medical Center Auxiliary (Services for Others Inc.) is now taking applications for new members.

Those enthusiastic about helping others are encouraged to come forward, as the auxiliary offers opportunities for everyone — students, businesspeople, retirees or homemakers.

Among the opportunities now available to volunteers are greeting and assisting visitors at the hospital’s information desk; serving as gift shop associates; escorting patients to their rooms from admissions; driving the free hospital courtesy carts; and providing comfort and easing anxiety of friends and family with loved ones in the Intensive Care Unit or emergency room.

Spalding Regional’s auxiliary also works with teen volunteers, providing training and encouragement as they begin their service.

Those interested in joining the volunteer organization will need to become a member of the Auxiliary Services. However, there is no membership fee. In fact, members enjoy a variety of benefits throughout the year, such as luncheons.

The auxiliary at Spalding Regional Medical Center has been an integral part of the hospital and the community for more than 50 years, providing support to patients, family members, employees and physicians.

Those looking for a rewarding way to serve others and become involved in the community should come by the information desk inside the main entrance of Spalding Regional Medical Center to pick up an application or call 770-228-2721, Extension 3163.
