Aug. 15 was the anniversary of the founding of the Southside Riders Association in 1998. with a mission statement as a non-profit, charity-centered group of motorcycle enthusiasts who organized to improve the image of the motorcyclist in the community. Through fellowship, brotherhood and involvement, according to the proclamation, “they unite with a common goal to improve themselves and the children of the state of Georgia.”
The organization is dedicated to the support of children’s charities and other worthy causes in the community. These include contributions of more than $400,000 through the Southside Riders' involvement with the Department of Children’s Services, Foster Parents Association. Ronald McDonald House Charities Pop Top Campaign, the Salvation Army Angel Tree and their annual Christmas party for foster children.
