Spalding County is changing several ordinances including those on animals, alcohol sales and employee benefits.

All were first readings with second readings required for the changes to be enacted. All were approved unanimously on Monday except for the two on employee benefits.

The proposed amendments to employee benefits would create new sections as recommended by the Budget Review Committee. These are Section 6 entitled "Longevity Pay" and Section 7 entitled "Employee Incentive Program."

The employee incentive was approved 4-1, with Spalding County Board of Commissioners member Bob Gilreath opposed. County Manager William Wilson Jr. said the county has budgeted $5,000 for the program and employees will only be paid the incentive if the recommended action meets all the criteria and conditions.
