The officer was airlifted to Grady Hospital for medical treatment. According to medical personnel the Griffin Police officer injured last night has been treated and released.
The officer was injured as a result of a gunshot wound and flying glass and is recovering at home. The suspect remains at Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition. Charges are expected as the investigation continues.
The injured officer is Lt. Curtis Keys, a 12 year veteran with the department. The initial responding officer is Officer Colt Tolen, who has been with the police department for three years.
Both officers are assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division.
As with any officer related shooting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called in to conduct the post-shooting investigation.
