Eight local swimmers — Dwayne Harry, Helen Hicks, Soren Wood, Martha Hicks, Braden Stahl, Deborah Hicks, Drew Tingle and Alanna Wood — won high-point trophies Saturday as the Doug Tingle-coached Griffin Gators swim team won its sixth consecutive Griffin Gator Invitational at the City Pool, easily outdistancing itself from its nearest competitor in the eight-team field by a whopping 1,675 points.

Little was in question entering the second day of the team's lone home meet of the season as the Gators, which scored 1,017 points on Friday, carried a 746-point lead over Swim Macon into the final day of the meet. By the time the water settled Saturday, Griffin had totaled 2,240 1/2 points to extend its lead to the final margin as Swim Macon finished second with 565 1/2 points.

Rounding out the rest of the field, in order, were: The Summit Titans (520 points), Roundtree Recreation Torpedoes (190), Falls Kingfish (165), Carrollton Bluefins (108), Macon Waves (96) and Douglas County Stingrays (80).

Harry finished first with 63 points in the Boys 15-18 Division. Helen Hicks scored 54 points to finish first in the Girls 15-18 Division. Soren Wood scored 61 points to finish atop the Boys 13-14 standings, while Martha Hicks scored 55 points to place first in the Girls 13-14 Division and Braden Stahl scored 60 points fo finish atop the Boys 11-12 standings. Also placing first for the Gators were: Deborah Hicks with 58 points in the Girls 11-12 Division, Drew Tingle with 54 points in the Boys 6-and-Under Division and Alanna Wood with 54 points in the Girls 6-and-Under Division.

Griffin had another 10 swimmers finish runner-up and six others take third in their respective division.

Second-place finishes came from: Mark Hicks (26 1/2 points) in the Boys 19-and-Over Division, Shelby Tilson (47) in the Girls 19-and-Over Division, Chris Da-Silva (46) in the Boys 15-18 Division, Big Fish Stahl (46) in the Boys 13-14 Division, Bethany Tilson (50) in the Girls 13-14 Division, Katelin Stanley (39) in the Girls 7-8 Division, and Taylor Wynne and Connor Ellerbee (36 each) in the Boys 7-8 Division, as well as Jack Miller and Josh Miller (26 each) in the Boys 6-and-Under Division.

Third-place finishes came from Mathias Koppel (24 points) in the Boys 19-and-Over Division. Chelsea Jacobs (39 1/2) in the Girls 15-18 Division, Blair Dunaway (43) in the Girls 13-14 Division, Addison Stahl (37) in the Boys 9-10 Division, and Dusty Evans (28) in the Girls 9-10 Division as well as Lexi Mueller (23) in the Girls 6-and-Under Division.

Next up for the Griffin Gators is the state GRPA meet. The Gators have qualified 19 for the meet July 27-28 in Carrollton.
