Spalding High baseball standout Dylan Griffin, center front, signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday at SHS to attend and play for the University of West Georgia next season. Joining Griffin for a brief ceremony in the front row, from left: Grandfather Don Griffin, father Lance Griffin, mother Lisa Griffin and sister Kacie Griffin. In the back row, from left: SHS assistant coach Sal Argila, SHS head coach Mickey Moody, SHS Principal Derrell Jeffcoat, grandmothers Dianne Griffin and Linda Williams and SHS athletic director Jeff Hyland. Griffin, who has started three years for the Jags, has been a three-time All-Region selection as a pitcher and infielder. Last year he batted .467 with 26 RBIs, 13 doubles and 5 home runs. He also sported an ERA just under 2.00 with 40 strikeouts and a record of 6-1.
