Other teams at the invitational included: Northgate, Columbus, Bremen, East Coweta, Troup, Hardaway and Americus-Sumter.
“Wow, was I impressed with how well the kids did,” said SHS coach Dolores Owen. “We did not have our full team, because some of them only had two days of practice — since the cross country state meet was six days earlier — and we had to send in entries early.”
Results included:
200-medley girls relay: SHS’s A-team of LeeAnn Frank, Chelsea Jacobs, Blair Dunaway and Mikayla Stormes (2:12.4) placed fourth out of 16 teams, while the B-team of Mary Owen Howell, Emma Chasteen, Olivia Dillion and Hallie Smith (2:36.5) placed 10th.
200 boys freestyle: Aubrey Fowler (2:35.1) finished eighth out of 24 swimmers.
200 girl freestyle: Chelsea Jacobs (2:22.3) placed third, Mikayla Stormes (2:34.5) ninth, Hallie Smith (2:48) 14th and Emma Chasteen (3:09) 18th.
200 boys individual medley: Will Davis (2:46—PR 10 seconds) finished seventh.
200 girls individual medley: Blair Dunaway (2:52) was sixth, LeeAnn Frank (2:54.1) seventh and Olivia Dillon (3:12) 10th.
50 boys freestyle: Dayton Grogan (26.24) was 11th, John Wesley (27:38) 15th and Cody Badgett (30:27) 26th.
50 girls freestyle: Mary Owen Howell (32.8) was 20th, Megan Moak (32.4) 41st, Kim Wood (37.7) 42nd, Ruth Boggs (38.3) 46th, Cora Pursley (42.0) 49th, Jessica Howell (43.6) 51st Dallas Wynne (44.5) 52nd.
100 boys freestyle: Dayton Grogan (100.l) was ninth, John Wesley (1:01) 12th, Will Davis (1:03) 13th, Aubrey Fowler (1:08) 17th, and Cody Badgett (1:10) 20th.
100 girls freestyle: Blair Dunaway (1:07) was fifth, Megan Moak (1:27) 37th, Dallas Wynne (1:37) 39th, Cora Pursley (1:43) 42nd, Jessica Howell (1:47) and Rebecca Mathews (1:58) 47th.
500 girls freestyle: Mikayla Stormes (7:06) was fifth.
200 boys free relay: The team of Cody Badgett, Will Davis, Aubrey Fowler and John Wesley (1:50) was third.
200 girls free relay: SHS’s A-team of LeeAnn Frank, Blair Dunaway, Mikayla Stormes and Chelsea Jacobs (1:59.8) was third, while SHS’s B-team of Jessica Howell, Rebecca Mathews, Cora Pursley and Megan Moak (3:01) 15th.
100 girls backstroke: LeeAnn Frank (1:18) was sixth, Mary Owen Howell (1:27) 11th, Emma Chastain (1:31) 14th and Ruth Boggs (1:53) 21st.
100 girls breastroke: Chelsea Jacobs (1:29) finished fourth, Hallie Smith (1:39) 11th, Olivia Dillon (1:41) 14th and Kim wood (1:50) 15th.
400 girls relay: SHS’s A-team of Emma Chasteen, Hallie Smith, Ruth Boggs and Olivia Dillon placed third, while SHS’s B-team of Dallas Wynne, Megan Moak, Jessica Howell and Kim Wood took sixth.
“I would like to thank Mr. Grant Adams and Mr. Craig Frank for their undying support for the team,” said Owen. “They work hard to help the kids become the best they can be at swimming. The team could not be where they are without their hard work and support.”
“I was so impressed by the progress of the new members of the team to this point,” Owen added. “We should have our full team for the next meet Nov. 30 in Macon. I feel we have a real shot at a good many kids making state times this year.”
