Kincaid Memorial United Methodist Church was built in 1912, thanks to the donation of the land and building by Joseph Kincaid, who had retired as president of Kincaid Manufacturing Company, which operated the mill. The church was named at his request.
Current pastor, the Rev. Sandra Fendley, said the mill played a big part in the church, from being where the members all worked to the donations by Kincaid and the mill of the land, the building and later a boiler for the original church. There’s the mill’s water tower across the street from the church, which Fendley said the kids in the neighborhood used to climb up and swim in.
