MACON — The Spalding High swim teams wrapped up the 2012 part of their schedule at meet on Dec. 14 hosted by First Presbyterian Day School, the Lady Jags finishing first in a field of nine and the Jags finishing fourth.

“The kids keep improving, and I am so proud how some have stepped up when others are sick,” said SHS coach Dolores Owen. “The flu has hit us pretty hard the last three weeks.”

Nonetheless, Spalding, which had only four boys swimmers in its lineup, managed to hold its own in a meet also attended by: Wayne County, Houston County, Howard, Lamar County, Landmark Christian, Rutland, Central High and Spalding as well as the host team.

* Girls 200 Medley: Lee Ann Frank, Chelsea Jacobs, Blair Dunaway and Hallie Smith (2:17.7) in first; Mary Owen Howell, Kim Wood, Olivia Dillon, Emma Chastain ( 2:44.5) fifth.

* Boys 200 Freestyle: Aubrey Fowler (2:41.2) sixth.

* Girls 200 Freestyle: Blair Dunaway (2:34) first, Emma Chastain (2:57) third, Kim Wood (3:13) fifth and Ruth Boggs (3:28) sixth.

* Boys 200 IM: Will Davis (2:41.6) fourth.

* Girls 200 IM: Hallie Smith (3:03) first and Olivia Dillon (3:13) third.

* Boys 50 Free: Dayton Grogan (25.73) sixth and John Wesley (26:09) seventh.

* Girls 50 Free: Chelsea Jacobs (29.3) second, LiAnne Harris (37.4) 28th, Megan Mocek (38.5) 32nd, Dallas Wynne (40.2) 36th and Rebecca Mathews (52.0) 43rd.

* Girls 100 Butterfly: LeeAnn Frank (1:25.4) first.

* Boys 100 Freestyle: Dayton Grogan (58.43) second and John Wesley (59.33) fifth.

* Girls 100 Freestyle: Emma Chasteen in (1:17.4) eighth, Megan Mocek (1:28.6) 22nd, LiAnne Harris (1:31) 24th and Rebecca Mathews (1:58) 29th.

* Girls 500 Freestyle: Aubrey Fowler (7:48) sixth.

* Girls 500: Blair Dunaway (6:49) first and Hallie Smith (7:26) second.

* Boys 200 Freestyle Relay: Third in 1:50.06.

* Girls Relay: Blair Dunaway, LeeAnn Frank, Hallie Smith and Chelsea Jacobs (2:03.3) first; and Megan Mocek, Ruth Boggs, LiAnne Harris and Kim Wood (2:33.6) 10th.

* Girls 100 Breastroke: LeeAnn Frank (1:17.7) first, Mary Owen Howell (1:35) fourth, Dallas Wynne (1:49) ninth and Ruth Boggs (1:54) 10th.

* Girls 100 Breastoke: Chelsae Jacobs (1:16.4) first, Olivia Dillon (1:40) 10th and Kim Wood (1:50) 17th.

* Boys 400 Freestyle Relay: Dayton Grogan, Will Davis, Aubrey Fowler and John Wesley (4:14) in third.

* Girls 400 Freestyle Relay: Emma Chastain, Olivia Dillon, Mary Owen Howell and Hallie Smith (5:35) in fourth; Lianne Harris Lainey Ballard, Megan Mocek and Ruth Boggs (5:34) in sixth.

“Chelsea Jacobs is one second away from qualifying for the state meet in the breaststroke and the relay teams are only 3 seconds away,” said Owen. “ I feel good about their chances of qualifying after the break. The kids have worked hard and it has been fun watching them get better with each meet this year.”
