MACON — The Spalding High Lady Jaguars softball team’s run through the Class AAAA state playoffs came to an end Wednesday afternoon, as the Rutland Lady Hurricanes swept Spalding in the best-of-three series 4-0 and 11-4 at Mercer University.
Rutland (21-8-1) now advances to the Elite 8 in Columbus while the Lady Jags finish their season at 14-14 overall.
Rutland got a measure of revenge against Spalding, as the Lady Jags beat the Lady ‘Canes for the 2009 Region 4-AAA championship back in 2009.
