The Griffin Spalding Land Bank Authority is working on a demolition agreement with the City of Griffin.

The details are still being finalized but the agreement between the city, the Land Bank and the Griffin Housing Authority, once approved by all three boards, would have the city demolishing substandard and blighted properties that are beyond repair, once those properties have been acquired by either the Land Bank or Housing Authority.

In the proposed agreement, the respective Authority would pay for the asbestos testing, abatement and landfill tipping fees for the debris. “The advantage to usis to get houses gone that need to be gone,” said Land Bank Executive Director John Joiner.
