Holcomb pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and was sentenced to 15 years, to serve eight years, with credit for time already served, said Chief Assistant District Attorney Randy Coggin. The sentence was 10 years for involuntary manslaughter and five for the firearm.
Holcomb was previously charged with the murder of Knowles, his friend, in the parking lot of the Moose Lodge on Zebulon Road, July 27, 2008. He was convicted in February 2009 of three charges including felony involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, but that conviction was reversed on appeal, Coggin said.
