— Ignorance is alive and well in Griffin. In Friday’s “My Two Cents” an unknown writer warned those of us with “nice homes” to watch out for those “low income” people coming to a neighborhood near you. The “real” problem is already next door, down the streeet and around the corner. Irresponsible homeowners, overleveraged properties, greedy investors, foreclosures, etc. is the only thing driving down my neighborhood. Friday’s writer is only trying to deflect the truth.

— My wife wanted to go somewhere where we could get away from people and have some peace and quiet. I suggested that we spend a week at the new industrial park but she would not go for that.

— Thank you cowards of Griffin. With your words of hate towards our president, you are helping our cause. Lots of people do not want to be around anyone who hates like you do. By the way, those people you rag on about are repugs.

— I hear so many statistics about our prison population based on race. I wish someone would do a study to show what percentage of inmates came from broken homes, did not attend church, or were born in to families receiving social welfare while the parents did nothing to contribute to society. This will be a much better explanation of our prison population than anything to do with race.

— Yet another Obama commuter train has been announced, the DesertXpress. They think that people bound for Lass Vegas will pull off the interstate in Victorsville, Calif. to ride the last 100 miles to Las Vegas on a high-speed train at the cost of $100 per ticket. Why would anyone in their right mind do something this stupid? This is just like the crazy leadership of this fair county are trying to shove such a project down our throats. How many of these fiascoes are the Obama regime proposing? They are everywhere.

— If anyone was thinking of voting for Obama, you should read Diana West’s article in the April 8 edition of The Griffin Daily News, where Steven Chu, the Secretary of Energy told the Wall Street Journal in 2008, that Obama said “somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the level that it is in Europe” which is about $9 a gallon. This is what our great president is doing for the working people of the U.S.

— Please do not complain about your taxes going up when you will have a chance in July to vote against a 1 percent sales tax increase but many of you have not bothered to register and many of those registered will not bother to vote even though you can vote early and be in and out in less than five minutes.

— Whether we use the old high school graduation formula or the new formula the facts remain the same — Spalding County’s graduation rate is absurdly low. Where do the dropouts think they will get a job and who is going to pay their way? Those social handouts and food stamps aren’t going to last for ever.

— Where is the SPLOST money for dirt road paving? This is an example of promises made by our county government. I guess the county manager spent it all on the new Senior Center and still didn’t have enough money. It would be interesting to know how every dime of the SPLOST money has been spent. Concerning SPLOST, do you trust these local politicans both city and county to spend your hard-earned money?

— The Griffin-Spalding County School System’s graduation rate dropped to 58.8 percent. Maybe the school members and other leaders that recently complained about negative articles in My Two Cents along with Gen. Jones, the school superintendant should worry about the poor performance of our school kids. This rate of graduation is quite negative.

— Why do the pharmacy workers have to be so staple happy?

Michelle Obama said: "the nation would not be so complex if we weren't so diverse."

This is very true. I wish she would have added that we could do without the race baiting pot stirring Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson making things worse.

Aren't Reverends suppose to be Jesus teachers? If so, how can these two be associated with Him?

Amen to that!! He should be checking into what goes on it our school system. Starting with the computer class at a certain Elem school. Still floored that this teacher is allowed to be around children after her behavior! Makes me sick.

If the superintendent has made one sexually suggestive comment, he must be making them frequently. Also, he must think it is okay to do so.

Why is he leading our school system? All executives have to learn to think but not say certain things. Do administrators in this system ever have to take responsibility for their actions? Why couldn't he have been talking to students instead of making offensive comments? That's what teachers usually do.

In reference to prison statistics, you are curious about criminals who attend church...83.761% of people incarcerated in the United States are Christians.

You have just demonstrated how dangerous statistics and data can be. How many incarcerated people were Christians, TRUE Christians, before they were sent to prison must be known first before your information really has any meaning.

If people would go back fifty years ago to the time WE let the government take over our schools, WE would see the problem. They took the BIBLE, the PADDLE, and DECENCEY out of the schools!!! Then the Prisons wouldn't be so full!!! AND, the Churches, wouldn't be so EMPTY!!! DUH!!!

I just received an application by mail, for wireless phone service? The only questions asked were if "I was on Food Stamps, Medicaid, SSI, FPHA", etc! What is going on folks? This is going to end up just like the housing entitlement program that BILL CLINTON signed! By the way, it came from ASSURANCE wireless in Illinois! Guess who else is from there? It's time for people to get OFF their lazy ??? and vote out the communist party!!!

I would be interested in a study that would show whether there were any correlation between the use of mood altering prescription drugs (Ritalin, etc...) in youth and prison populations. I've heard that there is a direct link showing that school violence increased with stimulant prescription rates.

Why is it when someone says something a liberal doesn't like, the liberal reduces themselves to name calling? Bigot and racist are their favorite names to throw at people who tell the truth. If that's what I am for what I believe then I will wear that button proudly.

Here's one for ya: there is no need for groups such as the NAACP any longer. Black people work in every sector of America and we now have a black president. We should not have any organizations advancing the color of anyones skin. Those organizations in themselves, are racist. Character is what matters, not ones color.
