— Webster’s dictionary has changed the definition of “moron.” It now says “one who contributes to My Two Cents.”

— Let me see, we are going to give Kroger $1.34 million in money from bonds and they are going to repay $2 million with money they would have paid in taxes over 10 years. Am I wrong or are the Spalding taxpayers building the new facility for Kroger? Stupid?

— How many SPLOST are you already paying? Don’t you think enough is enough? What did local government do before SPLOST? The answer, they governed within their means and actually had a budget.

— I read Diana West’s guest editorial (April 15) and decided that any newspaper that has the gumption to print an editorial that states that Obama’s forged birth certificate and Selective Service registration are “certainly forgeries,” obligates me to renew my subscription. All the TV media, including the ”fair and balanced” Fox News, have shut their eyes and ears to the awful truth. I had always believed that the news media kept us free and was a devotee of the concept until the last few years. But now, the GDN has raised its head as a newspaper that prints all points of view regardless of ideology and has restored my faith that there is one newspaper devoted to the concept of being “fair and balanced” to all.

— The CAVE people (Citizens Against Virtually Everything) love My Two Cents.

— I’m responding to the person who wrote that because we write about the president’s policies, we hate the president. You couldn’t be further from knowing the truth. I hate no person, but, I “do not” like what his policies are doing to this country. He and his far-left liberal friends just want us to be an entitlement society government and the sooner you figure that out the better off you’ll be. I can just about guarantee you, you never read anything about what his beliefs are about giving away to those who want something for doing nothing, period.

— Why shouldn’t the senior citizens of Spalding County be free from paying school taxes? If other Georgia counties can do it for their seniors, then why not Spalding County? It could help make up for the millage rate increase on property taxes. Even if you signed up for the senior citizen discount, you had a tax increase on your tax bill. My last tax bill, even with the discount, was the highest tax bill I’ve ever had.

— The athletic director at the University of Arkansas should be given a raise in salary for doing the right thing and firing head football coach Bobby Petrino. If this had been the head football coach at the University of Georgia, the athletic director would have said “he didn’t mean to do it” and the coach would still be the head coach at the University of Georgia.”

— To the majority of the contributors of ‘My Two Cents” who only complain and whine —don’t worry, when the brain-eating zombies take over, you are safe.

If your daughter needs a chasity belt it probably wouldn't do you any good to check her Facebook.

You're too dense to understand the meaning of my response. My daughter doesn't need a chastity belt or her Facebook monitored. We raised her right and she thinks for her quite effectively.

I realize that most people have stopped worrying about the superintendent's actions. My family is not so concerned about his actions, although they are offensive and unprofessional. I think most citizens would like to hear a statement from the school board members that assure parents appropriate attention to complaints from non-administrative staff about the issues that impact the teaching environment and the children who are the who are the reason for these jobs to exist. Please, board members, talk to us.Let us fill out a survey that is sent to you instead of teachers and schools. Things could be so much better with your help.

To the senior that does not want to pay school taxes, I would like to stop paying taxes for the new ridiculously over-budget senior center. I can't. Why should you?

To all the parents that have teenagers you may want to check their Facebook .I have a teenager and the only way she is allowed to have facebook is if I have passwords.I keep a check on it,not to be invading her privacy but these days you have to keep close tabs. Some of the teenagers on her face book are writing some very nasty stuff.. so parents if you CARE You really need to check up on them...

Do you know where I could by a chastity belt for my daughter? Not to invade her privacy, just to keep close tabs.

If your teens have trusted relatives on their Facebook account as friends, you will usually find that you do not have to check. You will find out from the relative if something is on Facebook that shouldn't be there. Trust me. My children sometimes put something on their accounts just to see how long it takes their least favorite aunt to call me.

To the person who has just called me a moron:

Sometimes this is the only safe way for an individual to express an opinion. Our county could do so much more to help people, but no one seems to listen to suggestions unless they are written in a column such as this.
