• Can someone explain to me why the local school system is called the Griffin-Spalding County Schools? Why not just Spalding County Schools? Last time I checked, our neighboring school systems weren’t called the Fayetteville-Fayette County Schools or the Zebulon-Pike County Schools.

• Thank you commissioners, for your hard work in bringing the new Kroger to our town. This adds to the tax base and more jobs. Keep moving forward.

• To the person who keeps complaining about seniors shopping and doing their banking at lunch. Hopefully you will live to be a senior some day. We’re the people who made this country great. It’s you young people always wanting your way that has gotten the U.S. in trouble. Stop complaining and stay at work until you get off and then do what you have to, because if we want to do anything at lunch time, we will.

• To the young man who found the billfold and kept it to return to the rightful owner, you’ll have blessings beyond measure for your honesty.

• The family of Honey Boo Boo looks like they could be the love children of Ned Beatty and the crazy redneck from “Deliverance.”

• West Taylor Street is so beautiful this time of year. The buildings are changing into brilliant colors of oranges, reds and purples, and the used tires are beginning to accumulate on the ground beneath them.

• All the educators and administrators who oppose the charter school amendment have convinced me that I should vote for it. Sounds like they are afraid of a little competition. In the real world (private sector), there is competition all the time.

• When a “professional” can underestimate the cost of replacing a roof by $132,000, when the total cost was originally estimated at $5,000, I think it demonstrates the ineptness of the whole senior center project.

• Now that we know that Honey Boo Boo has ties to Griffin, someone should invite her to be the grand marshal for the Christmas parade.

• If the school board, school administration and teachers’ union are opposed to it, the Charter School Amendment must be good for the citizens. “Vote yes.”

• The people who write to My Two Cents are not exactly brain surgeons. In fact, most of them should probably be visiting brain surgeons.

• Breaking news: Genetic scientists have analyzed a sampling of loud motorcycle drivers and discovered a much higher than normal proportion of Neanderthal genes.

• Kudos to the officers of the Griffin Police Department. They all deserve a raise for the things they have to respond to each and every — I recently read that Empty Stripmall Magazine and Ghosttown Guide have ranked Griffin the respective No. 7 and No. 9 places in the nation to visit. Anyone still think we have nothing to be proud of?

• If General Griffin could come out of his grave and look at this city today, what would he say?

• If Romney is elected, he will transport 53 percent of Americans to the Mormon scriptural planet Kolob. Once there, he will be free to constrain women’s rights and, subsequently, not be burdened by the remaining, needy 47 percent left on Earth.

• From the people who brought you Tricky Dick, we now have Sketchy Mitt.

• Can someone please explain why the Griffin school system does not have money to pay for library parapros who work directly with the students, but since January the central office has hired a communication specialist, a school improvement grant coordinator, a department secretary, two RT3 coordinators, a receptionist, a central registration registrar, an accounting clerk and other positions?

• I was undecided about who to vote for in the presidential election, but now that Honey Boo Boo has endorsed Barack Obama, he has my vote.

Some who oppose Obama in couched terms love the ploy of his not being a native born citizen and/or that he is not a true Christian but a closet Muslim. Has anyone in Griffin published this observation? Nope-and they won't.

I don't care where he was born or what religion he is, nor do I care if he is black or white. The man is in way over his head and has been for 4 years. He has done nothing, I mean nothing to help this country. His policies have set us back economically 20 years. I could write for hours about what he has done wrong but I won't waist your time. Anyone who is undecided, please, for the sake of our futures, vote for Romney or STAY HOME.
