— Has anyone seen a golf cart on the streets of Griffin yet? The rules allowing them have been in effect for several months.

— Cheap gas report: Greg’s Gas Plus on I-20 (South Carolina, Exit 1) in North Augusta, S.C., $3.25 per gallon. The Shell station across the street was $3.31. Ethanol-free gas was $3.51 at Greg’s. Two miles away at Georgia Exit 200, Shell was $3.48.

— I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict the person or persons that took two angels from a grave at Oak Hill Cemetery. The angels had been on that grave for a number of years. I pray that God will touch your heart and you will return those angels to that grave site.

— While driving down the expressway, I noticed this sign at Irish City Pub, “Bikini Contest Friday.” Wonder if Col. Jones was there handing out $20 bills?

— Col. Jones made a statement to a teacher and later said he shouldn’t have made it, and there was not a letter of reprimand filed against him and placed in his file. There are many employees and teachers that regretted doing and saying things, but still got a letter of reprimand placed in their files.

Okay, this is scary.I hear people in restaurants complaining about schools. I have teachers in Wal-Mart tell me that they are afraid to talk to anyone because there is always some type of retaliation. We are going to end up like some of the other school systems, and our accreditation will be pulled. Dr.Jones cannot be blamed for all of this. The person I feel for is his wife. She is a wonderful and caring principal who treats all people with courtesy and dignity. People, we can do better than this. We do not need to be on the news for negative things.Let's find a way to build up business in the county even if it means some principals are returned to the classroom and new ones are hired from out-of-county.Courtesy from an adult creates courtesy in children.

"Toward the end of his speech, Jones relayed to teachers the core values for school system employees — namely competency, open communication, loyalty, defined autonomy and respect. These values should be easy to remember, as their first letters build the acronym ColDr, a reference to Jones himself, who is both a colonel and a doctor."

If you check Curtis Jones' background information on the system website, you will see that he retired from the service as a Lt. Col and his doctorate was earned from Nova. For him to refer to himself as COLDR is egotistical, ostentatious, and inappropriate. Michael Kendall is correct in saying the administration is out of touch. It appears Jones' agenda is focused more on making a name for himself than providing the best education possible for the children of Spalding County.

Why the big fuss over the school system it's corrupted because it's operated by the government that's just the way it is if you don't like it put your kid in a private school.

This comment is in response to the person who wrote about Dr. Jones and the lack of reprimand he received. From what I have observed and learned, the administrators in the county have developed an unrealistic sense of power during the past 4 years. How can our children and grandchildren be expected to stop bullying when they see and hear about the administrators bullying adults? I wonder if the board would change its vote if they really knew what was going on in the schools. The state of our schools make people want to move or move businesses elsewhere. There are some fantastic people looking for teaching jobs elsewhere. What is our county going to do when the older teachers retire throughout the state and no one wants to come here because of leadership problems?

Well, here we go. We are headed in the direction of the Clayton County School Board and school system. Obviously an outside investigation needs to take place immediately so that we don't become the laughing stock of the state.
