Mr. William D. Moore, 66, of Griffin, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at Henry Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Moore of Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Becky Moore of Newnan, Bruce and Stephanie Moore of Dillard, James and Erin Moore of Barnesville and Jason Moore of Griffin; daughter, Tammy Moore; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Moore of Barnesville, Jerry Moore of Milner and Harrell Moore of Tyrone. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Westwood Gardens. The Rev. Terry Butler will officiate. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Helen Clara Still Chappell

Died Nov. 10, 2012

Hampton resident



Mrs. Helen Clara Still Chappell, 88, of Hampton, passed away Saturday, Nov.10, 2012 at Westbury Health & Rehab in McDonough.

She was a member of Berea Christian Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was known for being a master seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Chappell.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Paul Daigler of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, Paul W. and Beth Chappell of Hamilton; grandchildren, Laura Chappell, Marshall Chappell and Emily Chappell; brother, J.W. Still of Texas; nephew, Cecil and Judy Sargent of Michigan and various nieces and nephews in the Chappell, Barnett and Foster Families.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Fulton, Rev. David Fulton and Rev. Vic Whited will officiate. Interment will follow in the Berea Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, Nov.13, 2012 from 6–8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346 or the Berea Christian Church Music Ministry, 37 Woolsey Rd., Hampton, GA 30228 in memory of Mrs. Chappell.

Mrs. Gladys G. McLean

Mrs. Gladys Ann Goodman McLean, age 100 of Griffin, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. McLean was born in Henry County, Georgia on January 10, 1912. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Columbus Goodman and Neelie Mae Thompson Goodman; husband, John B. McLean; siblings, Beatrice Steele, Robert Goodman, Eugene Goodman, Frances Morgan, William Goodman, Janie Kimbell and Mildred Goodman. Mrs. McLean was a veteran of the United States Army Nursing Corp having served as a Lieutenant in World War II in the European Theatre in the battle of Anzio. She had co-taught the first class of LPN at the Griffin Hospital and during her career she had worked at Strickland Memorial Hospital, Griffin Hospital, Piedmont Hospital and Spalding County Health Dept. She attended Woolsey Baptist Church.

Survivors include brother, Grover Weldon Goodman; nieces and nephews, Gloria Goodman, Wayne Goodman, David Goodman, Mark Goodman, Michael West, Anita Nelson, Barbara Castleberry, Janet Jackson, Dean Kimbell, Candice Griffith, Kay Smart, Debbie Kimbell, John Kimbell, John McLean, Joe McLean, Bill McLean; several cousins and great nephews. The family would also like to the her caregivers, Brenda Royals, Eurice Bingham, Todaysia Colquitt, Francine Thomas and Angela Smith for their wonderful support and loving care they have shown Mrs. McLean.

Visitation for Mrs. Gladys McLean will be Monday, November 12, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00am in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Chuck Chambers will officiate. Interment will follow in Woolsey Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by Major Stephen Pless, Detachment 1196 of Marine Corp League in Griffin.

Mrs. Mae Belle (Mable) Davis Varnadoe, age 82 of Griffin, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at RWSIR in Warm Springs.

Mrs. Varnadoe was born in Americus, Georgia on February 18, 1930. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank A Davis and Mae Davis Tant; a son, Stanley Varnadoe; brother, Frank Davis; sisters, Ellen Queen and Faye Middlebrooks. She was a member of Vaughn United Methodist Church and co- owner of Varnadoe’s Grocery.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Paul Varnadoe, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Steve Young; sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Donna Varnadoe, Bill and Carolynn Varnadoe, Preston and Gayle Varnadoe; grandchildren and spouses, Bobby and Angi Logan, Christi and Todd Whitson, Chris Varnadoe, Erik and Megan Varnadoe, Patrick Varnadoe, Leigh Varnadoe, Tim and Allie Varnadoe, Nate and Courtney Varnadoe, Felicia Varnadoe, step granddaughter, Angie Young; great grandchildren, Dominic Varnadoe, Luca Varnadoe, Lilia Varnadoe, Addi Whitson, Brianna Young, Shailyn Franklin, Christian Franklin; sister, Sue Pitts; brother, Luther Davis; 25 nieces, nephews and many cousins.
