Mr. Forrest Exavier Peterman, Sr., age 83 of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mr. Peterman was born in Montgomery, Alabama on May 25, 1929. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Peterman and Hazel B. Peterman, brother George Peterman; sister, Judy Cox. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War as a paratrooper. Mr. Peterman was a former member of ABC’s, Moose Lodge, past president of little league baseball. Mr. Peterman retired from Jackson Beverage Co.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joan Hamby Peterman; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Peterman Johnson and husband Russell; son and daughter-in-law, Forrest Exavier Peterman, Jr. and wife, Janey; grandchildren, Kaitlin McMillan Johnson, Jeremy Johnson and wife, Jessie, Forrest Exavier Peterman III, Kristin Diane Rhodes; great grandchildren, Ruby Vaughn Johnson, Violet Johnson, Taylor Nicole Wehmeyer; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Forrest E. Peterman, Sr. will be Friday, November 9, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors

Mrs. Virginia Gordy

Mrs. Virginia Gordy, age 78 of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mrs. Gordy was born in Royston, Georgia on September 14, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Blanton Allen and Ruby Thomas Allen; son-in-law, Ken Cloer; sister, Jeanette McDaniel; brother, Hugh Allen. She retired as Pre- School Teacher at Southside Baptist Church, a member of Spalding Hospital Auxiliary since 1984and the Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Gordy was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where she was a member of KIT Club, Ruth Sunday School and former Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bobby Gordy; children, Randy B. and Susan Gordy of Jackson, Sherry V. and Jim Archer of Griffin, Susan Cloer of Griffin; grandchildren, Blant Archer, Melissa Gordy Ellington and Russ, Chris Gordy and Christy, Alicia Cloer, Olivia Cloer; great grandchildren, Ansley, Jamielynn, Harlie; sisters, Katie Smith, Veinelle Bunn, Betty Jo Bishop, brother, James Allen; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Virginia Gordy will be Friday, November 9, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 3:00pm at Southside Baptist Church. Reverend Danny Parrish and Dr. Mark Sellers will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens.
