Two women ended up in jail over the weekend not for what they were initially accused of but for reportedly obstructing the police once they arrived to investigate.

About 5:05 p.m. Friday, Griffin Police responded to a reported shoplifting at a store on North Hill Street. The woman eventually indentified at Ciara Settles, 22, was waiting on scene to dispute the proprietor’s allegations.

She voluntarily emptied her pockets and no store items were found. The officer also viewed the store surveillance video and reportedly found “no clear evidence of a shoplifting.”

However, in the course of obtaining the woman’s personal information, she reportedly “became nervous and suddenly began to flee.”

????? OK, so why arrest her? She emptied her pockets and police had no clear evidence that she stole anything. She even waited on police to arrive... If I were her I would sue the store and fight the obstruction charges... GDN... anything better to report on???
