Jamiro Winston scored the game-winner on a 6-yard touchdown run as Skipstone Academy broke a four-game losing streak to start the season with an 8-0 double overtime win Friday at Warrior Field against North Georgia in Glory for Christ League crossover action.

Winston then added a successful two-point conversion run to add insurance as the Warriors (1-4) topped North Georgia (1-2) to head into next week’s off week with a win under its belt.

“The team played outstanding defense,” said second-year Skipstone head coach Dan Salvador.

Josh King and Colby Polk did excellent job blocking, while Jamacio Kimble had a big interception to go with three receptions for 50 yards on a night where the score stood 0-0 at the end of regulation and at end of first overtime.

LOGANVILLE — Griffin Christian lost its second in a row Friday in non-league action on the road. Donovan Adams and Josh Smith were hurt in the game.

“We could not move the ball or tackle at all,” said Crusaders head coach Bobby Brogdon.

Griffin Christian (1-2) lost its second in a row while Loganville Christian (2-0) remained undefeated.

GCHS travels to play Creekside Christian next week in ICSGA South Div. action.

DOUGLASVILLE — Junior Vincent Blackmon scored on a 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and senior Quendarrious “Bingo” Williams returned the opening kickoff in the second half 90 yards for another score to lead Faith Christian on Friday at King’s Way Christian School in a game of independent eight-man football.

The Lions trailed the two-time defending state champs 64-6 at the half.

Head coach Jim McClelland Jr., praised the play of freshman quarterback Justin Smith.
