A Griffin man was reportedly beaten and robbed as he returned home from work Tuesday night.

Police responded about 11:21 p.m., to a West McIntosh Road apartment to find the victim at the front gate near the mailboxes. The man told police he had been beaten and robbed at his apartment by two slim black males wearing red and black shirts with black bandanas over their faces and armed with silver revolvers.

The man said he came home from work after stopping at Taco Bell for dinner. Upon getting his keys out to open the door, the man reportedly told police, the two tall, slim black males wearing red and black shirts with black bandanas over their faces pointed silver revolvers in his face.

He said they began hitting him in the head and demanded he open the door. Once he opened the door, they continued to hit him in the head repeatedly with the pistols, before tying him up with a phone charger cord and a belt, according to the incident report.

The two then ransacked his apartment as if searching for something in particular, police noted, failing to take items of jewelry and checks. The man told police the two then got a bottle of Johnny Walker and tried to pour it down his throat before leaving.

The man said he was able to get out of the restraints and walked outside to find the first responding officer. A neighbor had called 911, and told police she heard what sounded like a fight for about five minutes and when it didn’t stop she began to get worried something was wrong and called 911.

She told police it sounded like someone being bodyslammed into the floor and she heard yelling for about five to eight minutes after she called 911, then it just stopped. She reportedly told police she was scared and did not leave her apartment or see anything.

According the incident report, the man had several head injuries including bruising around his left eye and a laceration across his left eyebrow, as well bleeding from his nose and cuts and bruises on his head. He was transported by EMS to Spalding Regional Hospital for treatment, where he was treated and released.

Police checked the apartment to find every room ransacked with a large amount of blood on the walls and floor. The scene was processed and turned back over to the man after he was released from the hospital.
