MADISON, Ga. - Coach Rynn Goldstein’s Spalding High boys tennis team scored a first Monday evening, defeating Morgan County 3-2 for the first time in school history.
Jared Kingsley led the way for the Jaguars (1-3 overall), winning a team point 10-2 at No. 1 singles, as SHS not only defeated Morgan County for the first time but also posted its first win this season.
Rounding out Spalding’s attack were the No. 1 doubles team of Jeff Hopkins and William Ward notching a point 10-4 and the No. 2 doubles team of Casey Chafin and Bobby Peek notching yet another point 10-2.
The Spalding High girls tennis team (3-1) bounced back from its only loss this season, suffered 72 hours earlier at the hands of Chapel Hill in the Peachtree Invitational, by sweeping Morgan County 5-0.
Scoring points for the Lady Jags were Elizabeth Turner (10-1) at No. 1 singles, Melissa Kingsley (9-4) at No. 2 singles, Caroline Dallas (10-3) at No. 3 singles, Emily Hearn and Lauren Moore (10-3) at No. 1 doubles and Laura Anne Mabbett and Morgan Drake (10-1) at No. 2 doubles.
