At 11.2 percent, the unemployment rate was down from 11.7 percent in February and down from 12.4 percent in March 2011. Spalding’s unemployment rate for March was still higher than the state’s 8.9 percent and the national rate of 8.4 percent. It was the highest in both the Atlanta Metro Service Area and the Three Rivers Regional Commission. Unemployment in the Atlanta MSA was 8.7 percent, and in Three Rivers it was 9.6 percent.
All of these figures from the Georgia Department of Labor are not seasonally adjusted.
