The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the community, located and arrested Patrick John Douglas without incident during a traffic stop last week.

Douglas was wanted for questioning for his involvement in his own shooting that occurred on Fifth Street in East Griffin on Saturday, Jan. 26, as a result of a drug related argument, explained Spalding County Sheriff Wendell Beam. During the argument Christopher John Henry Zickefoose, 20, of 6th Street, Griffin, shot Douglas in the chest.

Zickefoose was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of Schedule IV drug (Xanax), possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, failure to keep drugs in the original container and possession of less than 1 oz. of marijuana. He is currently being held at the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center without bond.

Douglas, 35, of 269 Old Alabama Road, Barnesville, is also being held at the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on charges of violation of parole, giving false name and date of birth to a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. At the time of the stop he was found to be in possession of a firearm, Beam said.
