With signing day less than a week away, two area football players have committed and are expected to ink national letters of intent Wednesday. Griffin High defensive back Greg Worthy has verbally committed to Furman University in Greenville, S.C., while Spalding High tight end Najee Leftwich has verbally committed to Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala.

Two others players, Spalding High split end Travis Lee and Griffin High outside linebacker Kentorius Jackson, could possibly sign Wednesday. Lee took a recruiting trip to Wingate University near Charlotte, N. C., this week, while Jackson took a trip to Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga., and was offered a scholarship.

Several other area players are also being courted. Included in the lot are:

Nhyjal Sims, Griffin High center who took a trip to GMC.

Sheldon Hancock, Griffin High fullback being courted by Albany State in Albany, Ga., and Fort Valley in Fort Valley, Ga.

Willie Hamm, Spalding High receiver/safety being courted by GMC.

Darion Ponder, Spalding High offensive lineman being courted by GMC.

Jared Smith, Spalding High defensive tackle being courted by Shorter College in Rome, Ga.

Greg Murphy, Spalding High defensive tackle being courted by Shorter College in Rome, Ga.
