A Griffin woman faces multiple charges for reportedly stealing money from customers tax returns.

Investigators with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Lisa Marie McKneely, 35, of 106 Autumn Ridge Drive, Griffin, for financial identity theft, forgery, theft by deception and theft by conversion. These charges resulted from a two-month-long investigation and numerous complaints from citizens who hired McKneely to file their 2012 tax returns, said Sheriff Wendell Beam.

According to the complaints, Beam said, McKneely filed the tax returns and had the money from the returns sent to her account and failed to pay her customers what was owed from their 2012 Taxes. McKneely also used the identity of others to make payments on her bills and converted monies for her own use.

Investigators are asking that anyone in community that had any business or personal financial dealings with McKneely to please contact Investigator Tony Little at 770-467-4282.
