MACON — The Griffin Christian Lady Crusaders basketball team were hard-luck losers Friday afternoon in the Lancer Tip-Off Tournament.

With their game against Young Americans tied at 43 with five seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, GCHS was in position to go to overtime.

Unfortunately for the Lady Crusaders, YA put up a shot, got the rebound and scored as the buzzer sounded to give them a 45-43 victory over GCHS.

“If we had 30 more seconds, we would’ve won the game,” said GCHS head coach Melanie Foster.

Caroline Smith led GCHS (1-5) with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Brittany Foster chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds, Kellie Dingler scored 5 points and Leyah Brown had 5 steals.
