Mr. Pete Bailey, 89, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Griffin, Ga., and Milledgeville, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the Alvin C. York Veteran Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Mr. Bailey was born in Griffin, Ga., on Sept. 16, 1921, to the late Jessie Byrd Bailey and the late Vera Craine Bailey. Mr. Bailey was the former owner and operator of Pete’s Place in Milledgeville. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served in World War II.

Mr. Bailey is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Bill and Nancy Bailey, Clay Bailey; grandchildren, Shelley Brown and her husband, Paul, Christopher Bailey and his wife, Brittany; Cooper Bailey, Sawyer Bailey and Meg Bailey; great-grandchildren, Mac Brown, Bailey Brown, Maddox Clark; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Helen and Ed Parker of Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Pete Bailey will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, in the Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Jim Cannady will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the woundedwarriorproject.org in memory of Mr. Bailey.
