Mr. Fogarty was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Meriwether County, son of the late Alma Cleveland Fogarty and the late Talmadge Fogarty. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Fogarty; brother, Garon Fogarty; and sister, Frances Manley.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Thelma Caverly Fogarty; children, Martha and Willie Griffin of Brooks, Michael and Cindi Fogarty of Griffin, Faye and David Iverson of Newnan and Johnny and Davey Fogarty of Brooks; brother and sisters, Melvin and Opal Fogarty of Griffin, Charlotte Solomon of Zebulon, Velma and Wendell Hinton of Thomaston and Jean and C.D. Tanksley of Brooks; grandchildren, Bonnie Griffin, Jamie Griffin, Tamara Harmon, Dustin and Meagan Tanner, Rebecca Fogarty and Katie Fogarty; great-grandchildren, Heather and Alex Herrin, Emma and Adelyn Harmon and James and Jake Griffin.
Funeral services for Mr. Fogarty will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the funeral home.
