The meet finals are scheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. at Drew.
The Spalding Lady Jags currently have a total of 59.5 points, followed by Sandy Creek with 49, Eagle’s Landing (39), Eastside (35), Drew (26), Henry County (18), Jackson (12), Locust Grove (7.5) and Stockbridge (3).
In the boys rankings, the Spalding Jags are fourth with 24 points. Sandy Creek (85), ELHS (50) and Eastside (33) are the three teams ahead of the Jags.
The Spalding girls managed to qualify four girls for the state track meet so far — Li Anne Harris, who ran a 13.04 in the finals of the 3200 meter run; pole vaulters Mary Owen Howell (the region champ at 6-06) and Nykerria Conley (6-0); and special needs athlete Abby Argo in the shot put at 16-11 1/2.
All Saturday field events were state-qualifying finals.
Both Lady Jags 4x100 relay teams qualified for the finals Monday — the A team of Dominique Nock, Jenna Wesley, Grenishia Daniel and Shaquoria Reid (49.6) and the B team of Precious Martin, Dee Dee Matthews, Shondrika Pope and Veronica Anderson (52.4).
The 4x400 relay team of Wesley, Nock, Daniel and Martin also qualified for the finals with a time of 4:09.
Nock qualified for the finals in 100m (12.5) and 200m (26.1) runs, Reid qualified in the 100m (12.7), Daniel qualified in the 300 m hurdles (48.1) and the 400 m run (1:01.4), Anderson qualified in the 400 m at 1:02 and Wesley (2:22) and Meg Ward (2:37) also qualified in the 800 meter run.
The Spalding Jags didn’t have any athlete make state this year — Montae Williams nearly made it in the discus, placing third at 134-10.
Spalding’s Garrett Bell was the only Jags runner Saturday to qualify for the finals Monday, running a 16.9 in the 110 high hurdles.
Jags runners Jon Eady and Adam Miller will also run in the 1600 meter run Monday and if they finish in the top two, they’ll qualify for the boys state track meet.
