LOGANVILLE, Ga. — Chris Flake shot an 86 and Dalton Thiel a 91 Thursday afternoon to lead Faith Christian Academy to a runner-up finish in the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama Athletic Association (ICGSA) golf championship at Cedar Lake Golf Club.

Crown shot a 343 to win the championship, while the FCA Lions shot 366 to finish runner-up for the second year in a row.

“Three sixty-six would have won it last year,” said FCA head coach Bob Chappell. “But that’s golf.”

Rounding out FCA’s lineup were: Jake Farrell (93), Eric Berryman (96), Ty Maxwell (104) and Justin Lewis (106).

Rounding out the four-team field were Loganville Christian in third with an estimated score in the 380s and North Georgia Christian in fourth with a 411.

Earlier in the week, after FCA shot a practice-round 358 at Cedar Lake, Chappell — who’s team shot a 379 last year during state at the same venue — predicted it would take between 345-350 to win this year’s tournament.

The Lions have now finished in the top three the past three seasons at state.
