Aponte, an office technician in the Solid Waste Department, was honored for her efforts on June Jam, among other things.
“She displayed a lot of personal initiative,” said Phill Francis, director of Central Services.
Aponte serves as chairman of the children’s activities at June Jam and is the schools liaison, Francis said.
“We are so pleased to have her,” Francis said. “She goes the extra mile.”
Her supervisor, Johnnie Stevens, said, “she is my right arm.”
In nominating Aponte, Francis said “her technical savvy has and bilingual Spanish-English skills have been an asset to our department and have expanded our ability to serve our Spanish-speaking customers.”
