An investigation by the Griffin Police Department’s (GPD) Special Investigations Unit (SIU) led to the Friday arrests of Demon Trice and two others on trafficking cocaine and other drug-related charges, respectively.

Trice was the target of the SIU investigation that had been ongoing for several weeks. On Friday, the SIU established surveillance at 530 E. Tinsley St. in Griffin in reference to a drug investigation initiated by agent Stan Phillips.

Phillips and other members of the SIU had received information that Trice has been trafficking crack cocaine on the east side of Griffin.

At the time of his arrest, Trice was out on bond from the Spalding County Jail on five separate cases, all of which involved crack cocaine. Those charges stem from a separate SIU sale case operation that led to Trice’s arrest on April 19 of this year.

From January through April, SIU agents were able to successfully capture video of Trice selling crack cocaine.

”It was clear to us during the past two weeks that arresting Mr. Trice on April 19 for multiple sale cases had little effect on his drug trafficking enterprise,” said GPD Lt. Mike Richardson. “We hope today’s arrest and trafficking charges in addition to his pending sale case charges will bring to an end one of several individuals whose illegal drug activities are poisoning our community and ruining lives each and every day.”
