According to Georgia State Patrol trooper Daniel Smith, Parks’ 2006 Nissan Altima was traveling east on Teamon Road, ran off the road and struck a tree near the Smoak Field Road intersection.
Smith said Parks was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith said there was no indication of alcohol, but there was “most definitely speeding.”
Smith said the vehicle was ripped into two parts from the impact with the tree.
He said the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office received the call at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday. Units from the Sheriff’s Office, State Patrol and Spalding County Fire Department responded.
