If the Spalding High Lady Jaguars basketball team could stop giving the basketball away in bunches, they would have a much better record.

“Too many turnovers hurt us every time,” said Spalding head coach Demetrius King.

Should the Lady Jags hold on to the ball tonight, they should be able to defeat the Eagle’s Landing Lady Golden Eagles whom they will face in Region 4-AAA action at 7 p.m. on the road.

Spalding (5-10 overall, 3-4 region) has a great chance to break its two-game losing streak against ELHS, a team which has only won one region game, a 44-34 victory over Stockbridge. The Lady Jags are coming off two close losses to region foes Eastside (46-41) and Henry County (43-39) and if they hadn’t committed turnovers down the stretch, they could’ve easily been on a 3-game win streak instead. A win by Spalding tonight solidifies its hold on fifth place in the region standings.

Jones County (9-6 overall, 2-3 Region 3A-AAAA) at Griffin (6-8, 2-3):

Griffin's Lady Bears look to end their 3-game losing streak and rebound from their huge loss to the Dutchtown Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night. Griffin hosts the Lady Greyhounds of Jones County tonight at 7 p.m. at The House. Sole possession of fourth place in the subregion standings is the prize for the winner of this game. The Lady Bears get some good news: Starting guard Shacoria Jones should return to the lineup tonight from a broken finger she suffered weeks ago.

Griffin Christian (1-13 overall, 0-3 GISA Region 2-AAA) at Tattnall Square Academy (12-4, 1-2):

The Lady Crusaders of Griffin Christian are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak and they’ll have a tough time breaking it in Macon against Tattnall Square tonight at 6 p.m. Tattnall will be looking to get back in the win column after losing 41-32 to crosstown and region rival Mount de Sales Tuesday, ending Tattnall’s 2-game win streak.
