Griffin NAACP meeting to focus on school system

The Griffin Branch NAACP will present Curtis Jones, superintendent, and staff of the Griffin-Spalding County School System in a public informational meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 at the Eighth Street Baptist Church, 408 Palace St., Griffin.

At that time, the need for the continuation of the current SPLOST for education will be explained. Cost-cutting proposals for the school system and other topics relating to the school system will be addressed.

Persons are urged to attend and to call in questions or issues of concern prior to the meeting, so that the proper documentation and personnel will be available to adequately answer concerns.

According to Griffin Branch NAACP President Jewel Walker-Harps, the meeting is designed to disseminate accurate information, to address vital concerns of the community and to inform the community of the achievements of the school system.
