Spalding County is scheduled to consider three zoning requests related to Lifesong Church on Thursday.

Lifesong is looking to build a church on eight acres off Carver Road at the Pike County line, south of Carver Road Middle School. Senior Pastor Mark Jones said the church currently meets in the Griffin Stadium Cinemas.

Jones told the Spalding County Board of Appeals the church is buying eight acres of a 72-acre tract that went into foreclosure. Community Development Director Chad Jacobs said the 72 acres was zoned to be phase three of the adjacent subdivision, but was never built out and went into foreclosure. Initial plans are for a 10,000-square-foot building.
