All three teams agreed to play the games at Dutchtown High and since neither team qualified for the Region 3-AAAA playoffs, they all decided to get some extra work in Monday.
In Game 1, Griffin senior Trent Cosper pitched well and Griffin jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Bears, they couldn’t score any more and the Bulldogs were able to bounce back and win 3-2. The highlight for the Bears in Game 1 was great outfield play by sophomore Montico Dodson, who made at least 3 diving plays for outs in very windy conditions.
In Game 2, Griffin swung the bats well and that fueled their big win over Ola. Daniel Gooden started on the mound against Ola and went 3 innings and he was relieved by Montico Dodson, who struck out 6 Mustangs in four innings for the win.
Bears assistant coach Fred West said several Bears hit well and made plays in the doubleheader. John Pope had 2 doubles and a triple, Quantico Dodson had 3 hits and a triple and second baseman Marquavious Brownlee made an excellent jump throw to first base to nearly record an out.
Jags win in 10:
It took 10 innings, but the Spalding High Jaguars won their fifth game in a row, a 7-6 triumph over the Northside-Columbus Patriots this past Saturday at Jaguar Field. Spalding, the 2012 Region 4-AAA champs, is 18-5 overall and will host the East Coweta Indians Friday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Cordele, Ga. to play No. 3 state-ranked Crisp County (24-0) on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the regular-season finale.

Skipstone tries to get to .500:
The Skipstone Warriors are 9-10 overall with only one game remaining, a road contest against Solid Rock Friday at 4 p.m. in Hampton. This will be the first meeting of these two teams and it will be a game for bragging rights in the fall, as both schools come together to form the Warriors football team.
Leading hitters for the Warriors this season have been Alex Snider with a .491 batting average, Kevin Ard at .432 and Bryant Ard at .401.
Skipstone lost to Trinity Christian 14-9 on Monday. Eighth-grader Jesse Mantooth started on the mound and the Warriors gave up 13 runs in the first two innings with sloppy defensive play. They battled back to cut the lead to 13-8, but the Warriors couldn’t get out of the early hole. Kevin Ard pitched one-run ball over the last five innings to keep Skipstone in the game.

No makeup game for GC:
Griffin Christian head baseball coach David Hammond said the Crusaders will not make up the March 13 game against region foe Trinity Christian that was rained out at Nix Field. Hammond said they had trouble rescheduling the game so both parties decided not to play it. Neither team was eligible for the GISA state playoffs.
