WALKER COOK CAMP: Deadline is June 1 to register for Walker Cook’s annual Summer Basketball Day Camp Just for Girls on June 4-8 at Griffin Christian High School on the grounds of Griffin First Assembly of God Church.

Cost is $100, which includes snacks and T-shirts. The camp will be held from 6-9:30 p.m., daily.

The camp is open to those entering grades 5 through 12. Players will be divided according to age and skill level. Campers will receive instruction and materials on: Core fundamentals, practice drills, mental game/tournament play, offense and defense as well as a review for parents on the final day.

GRIFFIN BULLDOG CLUB: The Griffin Bulldog Club will hold its annual banquet July 19th at the University of Georgia Griffin Campus.

Georgia Bulldogs play-by-play announcer Scott Howard will be the keynote speaker.

GEORGIA JUNIOR: MARIETTA — Entries are now being accepted for the 47th annual Georgia Junior Championship, which takes place June 18-20, at Doublegate Country Club in Albany. This event is open to male amateur golfers between the ages of 14 and 17. A competitor must be at least 14 years old as of June 18 and not be 18 as of June 20. Deadline for entry is May 30

The format of the event is 54 holes of stroke play with the 144-player field being cut to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes. The top eight finishers at the Georgia Junior Championship are invited to represent the state in the annual Georgia-South Carolina Junior Challenge Match. Qualified players must enter online at the GSGA website (www.gsga.org) by clicking the Online Registration quick link.

DREAM IN THE HOUSE: The WNBA’s Atlanta Dream will participate in a promotion called “Take the Show on the Road” this summer, and one stop will be at Griffin High School. The Dream will be at Griffin High’s gym, The House, on June 21 from 6-8 p.m. for a two-hour, fan-friendly practice session. Fans can watch the women’s professional team practice and there will be giveaways, raffles, a Q&A and autograph session with the Dream and an opportunity to win tickets to see the Dream play this season.

FREE HUNTER SAFETY: Quail Forever, in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources, Griffin Gun Club and Devotie Baptist Church, is offering free hunter safety courses at Devotie Baptist Church, 1355 Experiment St. in Griffin, as follows:

— Aug. 28 and 30 (two-night class) from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

— Oct. 2 from 6-8 p.m. Test Only

— Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. Test Only

— Dec. 4 from 6-8 p.m. Test Only

Other classes will be taught at different locations as follows:

— May 19 and Aug. 11, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (free lunch), at the Cherokee Rose Sporting Resort in Griffin.

— Sept. 22, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. (free lunch), at the Big Red Oak Plantation in Gay, Ga.

— June 23, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. (free lunch), at the Griffin Gun Club.
