— Could someone show me in the Constitution where it says that the role of government is to provide entertainment ($3 million senior center) for senior citizens? This is why our federal, state and local governments are going broke.

— I am not for gay marriage, but on the other hand, we need to actually practice what we preach as far as maintaining the sanctity of marriage. With all the divorces, affairs and domestic abuse, we have not done a good job in protecting the sanctity of marriage. We need to start taking marriage seriously in this country.

— More decisions are made by conversation at a cocktail party than at public meetings. We have a government too often influenced by local organizations with agendas with no regard for the ordinary citizen.

— Let’s face the facts. At least 70 percent of the citizens in Spalding County and Griffin have no part in local government except to pay taxes.

— I am in favor of same-sex marriage for My Two Cents contributors. That way they won’t be able to reproduce.

— I saw an article online about the most well-read cities in America. To my surprise, neither Griffin nor Zebulon made the list.

— Some churches and people believe the Bible prohibits marriage of divorced people, others do not. Some churches and people believe the Bible prohibits the marriage of interracial couples, others do not. Some churches and people believe the Bible prohibits the marriage of interfaith couples, others do not. Some churches and people believe the Bible prohibits gay marriage, others do not.

— I don’t really care about being conservative or liberal, just reasonable. I get tired of both sides bickering back and forth, the lack of respect and the inability of people to actually debate and discuss issues without being nasty to each other.

— If the county manager would be truthful to himself, he has no interest in the rural part of the county. When is the last time a dirt road was paved? Dirt roads are not even maintained on a regular basis.

The "Constitution" doesn't address Senior Citizen's Centers. It does address taxation and the right to vote. This county voted for an extra tax to be collected so that a center could be built. Those taxes are dedicated to building it, that's why it's being built. If you disagree, then become involved in the political system (writing a comment in this column doesn't count). Vote, run for city council, attend county commission meetings, do something other than complain.

Federal, state, and local funds are not going broke by senior centers. They are going broke by continuing to give money to baby breeders who won't get off their butts to do anything to help themselves.
