— It would appear with only 2 percent of the local residents signing up for the weather alerts, a siren is what the majority wanted, but who in authority listens.

— Before voters vote for another SPLOST, the public has a right to know how all the SPLOST money already collected has been spent. Every dollar collected should be accounted for by our local government.

— The upcoming election is maybe the most important the voters will face in a lot of years. People vote. It doesn’t matter how you vote, but don’t let talk about one third of the people in Griffin and Spalding County determine future in spending.

— Our Mothers taught us to be careful about who we hang out with because we are often judged by the company we keep. Hey Mitt, your mother called, she wants you to stop hanging out with the Donald, says it makes you look stupid.

— If my math is correct, we just had 456 seniors graduate from high school. This is the lowest number since 2007. In the fall of 2008, this year’s graduating class had 1,034 students enrolled in ninth grade (info from GADOE) which means less than half, 50 percent, of them graduated. Sadly, many of those missing young people have chosen to join street gangs, have babies for taxpayers to support, joined the growing number of unemployed, and/or are incarcerated. The state has now mandated that our school system use a different, less deceptive, formula for computing the graduation rate which will reflect this embarrassing drop-out problem. Maybe it will force them to finally do something about it.

— I get tired of seeing all these negative comments about my town. Griffin is the best place of all time, our community leaders are wonderful and our schools are the best ever.

— I am not surprised that business don’t want to come to Griffin. If by any chance they have access to the local paper they read the front page and it is constantly reporting drive-by shootings, neighborhood fighting, cutting, stabbing, drug dealings, meth houses being raided. Why? Because the family has broken down in America. Satan is working overtime in our land, but, fear not, God is still in control. We only see the little picture, God sees the “Big Picture”.

— So, if Wisconsin can recall a governor who has done nothing wrong, then, why can’t we recall a president who has done numereous wrongs?

— I think it is darn right funny how those in city government can keep taking and taking from its citizens and from small businesses with outlandish fees and charges on every level. I believe it’s so we will pay for their airport so they can travel around on our dime and let us as taxpayers foot the bill. I think it’s time to clean out government waste and those in office now amount to waste.

— So you are able to get your clever little two cents printed that shows your disdain for both Democrats and gays. insinuating that all Democrats are gay. But the GDN prints it when the top news story is about Democrat John Edwards, a mistress and a love child. Oh, the injustice of it all, making ignorance and intolerance look so stupid,

— Is it me, or is anybody else wondering why there is never toilet paper in the rest rooms of the Griffin Library. If you go there, you can find books, wireless internet, pen, pencil but not toilet paper, so keep your visits short.

— To the person who said we ought to have a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy for marriage, you should take a look at your own marriage and don’t cheat on your spouse. Be proud you’re happily married.

— How can they include the new senior center in the 2012 budget? The 2005 SPLOST was voted in to pay for a new senior center. I believe SPLOST money is supposed to be used for what it’s voted for and kept separate from the yearly budgets paid by property taxes. If it’s not being kept separate, then why do we even bother to vote for a SPLOST if it’s not being used to pay for what it’s being collected?

— Someone please tell me why NBA analyst Charles Barkley has not been fired for being so arrogant and does nothing but make racist remarks on live TV? He is not a role model for our youth and he definitely send the wrong message when we are trying to bring together our youth of all races.

— I don’t care if a presidential candidate can sing, play a musical instrument, play sports or whatever. Can he lead? Can he make good decisions for the country?

— I think it’s awful that Fayette County is asking us to help pay for the West McIntosh bridge. Those rich people over there in Fayette should pay for their own bridge and leave us alone.

— Are there people out there who actually think that homo sapien and homosexual are the same thing? I hope that person who wrote in to My Two Cents was joking.

In talking about the TSPLOST that will be up for vote on July 31. Every dollar spent will be accounted for and posted on the GDOT web site. The list of projects is there now. If you have any questions about the TSPLOST, look at the web site. Most, if not all, of your questions will be answered there.
