Flicks at Sixth back Friday with ‘The Muppets’

The free movie series, United Bank Flicks at Sixth returns this Friday with “The Muppets.”

The fun starts at 7:30 p.m., with family activities, games, prizes and free refreshments, then the movie starts at dark. Movies will be shown at the J. William Edwards Pavilion in the Park at Sixth, at the corner of E. Solomon and 6th streets, across 6th Street from the Spalding County Courthouse.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the City Hall parking deck. Those attending are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

This Friday’s movie is “The Muppets,” and the final movie in the series will be “Cars 2,” on July 20, The series opened last month with “Dolphin Tale,” May 18.

The Flicks at Sixth free movie series is presented by United Bank, Spalding County, the City of Griffin and the Griffin Main Street Program.

To accommodate these events, the following streets will be closed to traffic from 6 p.m. until midnight on each movie date – East Solomon Street (eastbound side only) between Hill and 5th streets; and 6th Street (both ways) between Bank and East Solomon streets.

While these streets are closed, walk-up access will still be available to area residences and businesses (i.e. ‘StacheStudio, RN Fitness, Griffin Gallery, 6th Street Pier, B’Unique Hair Salon, Championship Martial Arts, Jan’s Used Furniture, Angelo’s, Newton & Howell, etc.), said Griffin Main Street Program Manager Kira Harris-Braggs.
