CARROLLTON — The Griffin Gators took 39 swimmers to the 2012 District IV Meet this past Saturday, with 19 qualifying for the State Swim Meet to be held on July 27-28 in the same venue. Two of the 19 — Dayton Grogan and Connor Ellerbee — are first-year Gators.

Swimmers who placed first, second or third in their events at District qualified for the state meet. They were allowed to swim in only 2 individual events and 2 relays.

The Gators’ next meet is the 2012 Griffin Gator Invitational July 20-21, starting at 2 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m Saturday. The Gators have won their home meet for five straight years.
