Marcia Norris was re-elected as Spalding County’s clerk of Superior Court.

The nine-year incumbent said she felt proud that the voters chose to keep her as clerk.

“I appreciate their faith in me,” she said.

Norris won the countywide race with 4,373 votes, or 68.26 percent, to Edith Ray’s 2,033 votes, or 31.74 percent.

Norris said Ray had called to congratulate her.

“I look forward to working with her in the district attorney’s office,” Norris said.

Ray had worked in the clerk’s office for 10 years, but the last seven years worked as a legal secretary for District Attorney Scott Ballard. Ray is also the wife of Spalding County Board of Commissioners member Raymond Ray.

Norris has worked in the clerk’s office for 23 years, with the last nine as clerk of Superior Court.

There is no Democratic challenger, so the primary decided this race, with the winner running unopposed in November.
