It was a special day for teachers in the Griffin-Spalding County School System, as they each received a shopping cart loaded with free school supplies Wednesday at the Free Store For Teachers at Spalding High School.

The event — spearheaded by local school supply manufacturer Norcom, Inc., and sponsored by a great number of companies from Georgia and beyond — handed out supplies worth about $200,000.

In its sixth year, the giveaway still intends to support local teachers by providing them with school supplies that they can pass on to their students in need — as opposed to having to buy the supplies out of her own pocket.

Unless you teach Pre-K. They went last and everything was already taken. As always, those teachers get the short end of the system stick.

GA pre-k is funded by GA lottery. Maybe they should step up to the plate.

If you are refering to teachers as "they", they step up to the plate everyday and have more furlough days than other teachers in the system. Some act toward them as if they are not real teachers. Although they are funded by the lottery, they still buy supplies out of thier own pocket.

I was refering the GA Lottery as "they." Pre-k teachers have it worse some days--they are the ones still dealing with poopy accidents. Don't be so defensive.
