Henry Mabbett Jr. hits a putt on No. 18 during the final round of the Griffin City Championship at the Griffin City Golf Course on Aug. 7 last year. Mabbett, who made the putt to force the playoff, won the title on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Since then, the greens have been replanted with Champion Bermuda. A grand re-opening of the greens is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18. Players are urged to call the pro shop at (770) 229-6615 in advance to book a tee time. Cost for 18 holes and a cart is $20 plus tax.

The course will also have a grand-opening dedication ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday where Griffin City Commissioners are expected to be on hand as well as golf course staff. (John Sullivan/Daily News)
