A local business is working with the Spalding County Fire Department to host a fund-raiser Saturday for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The AM PM Express on Williamson Road will be grilling hot dogs Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

“We’re providing the food;everything we make will go to the MDA,"said store manager Laura Waldrop.

Waldrop said the store works with the fire department a lot.

“We wanted to give back to the community,” she said.

The convenience store, a Marathon gas station at the corner of Williamson and Carver roads, will host the fund-raiser for the fire department, said Fire Chief Kenny West, with proceeds going to the department’s MDA donation, which also includes the money raised in boot drives over the past few weeks.

At last count, the Fire Department had raised $4,985 for MDA this year.
