Stepping Stones Educational Therapy Center received a check for $10,000 from the BP Fueling Communities Program after it was nominated for the local grant by Willis Oil Co. in Griffin.

The program awards such grants to support organizations that focus on health, education, youth, food and housing.

The grant money will benefit the programs at Stepping Stones.

“We will be able to reach more special-needs children with early-intervention education and therapy to help them reach their maximum potential,” said Stepping Stones Executive Director Sherry Nash.

“Although BP is a large company, it is good about showing concern for local communities,” said Kim Willis, chief executive officer of Willis Oil Company. “Staying in touch with local distributors like Willis Oil allows BP to help contribute to local quality of life with grants like these.”

Stepping Stones has been serving children with varying developmental, intellectual and physical disabilities since 1990. This BP grant will allow Stepping Stones to better serve children who have disabilities as varied as autism, cancer, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, and Down Syndrome.
